Well this competition from chip manufacturer Simba is rolling on and I have to say there have been some bizarre flavours created:

Snoek & Atchar (ja well maybe)
Walkie Talkie Chicken (sounds good)
Vetkoek & Polony (Shiver)
Masala Steak Gatsby (ja I would give that a go)

This created a dilemma for the brewery giant, who needed something special for this year’s football fever. In search of a solution, SAB turned to packaging partner Nampak. The brief was “simple” – for Castle Lager, design innovative and high functioning packaging, with both tourist and local appeal, which has souvenir/novelty pack qualities and can also be used as a gift pack.

BASF and RTI International jointly develop new Carbon Capture Technology

BASF and U.S. research institute RTI International, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina/USA, are joining forces to develop a new, exceptionally cost-effective technology to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from waste gases emitted by coal-fired power plants and other industrial sources.

The development project is sponsored by a two million dollar cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The award is part of the DOE’s stimulus-funded initiative focusing on energy-related research
projects.

Data on southern oceans now freely available

On World Ocean Day (8 June 2010), the Southern African Data Centre for Oceanography (SADCO) will start providing free and open access to its data.

The CSIR’s Dr Marten Gründlingh, who manages the data centre, says: “Marine information is key to a better understanding of issues such as climate change, weather and the impact of humans on the sea – including marine effluent, oil spills, shipping, mineral exploration and fishing. With increasing pressures on our marine environment, oceanographic data are essential to governments and other decision-makers.”

Sasol O&S enters high purity TEAL merchant market

Sasol today announced the construction of a purified tri-ethyl aluminum (TEAL) production unit at its Sasol Olefins & Surfactants (O&S) plant in Brunsbüttel, Germany. The facility, with an initial annual production of a 6 000 tons, is expected to go on stream early 2012.

Sasol O&S is the world’s largest producer of tri-ethyl aluminum during the production of alcohols at its Ziegler unit in Brunsbüttel, Germany and Lake Charles, LA, USA. The unit will enable Sasol to further benefit from of its existing strong position in the production and captive supply of TEAL. “Leveraging the existing base product allows Sasol to enter this growing market relatively quickly with quality and availability assured”, said André de Ruyter, Sasol Group general manager responsible for the chemical businesses. “It will increase our ability to supply customers around the world”.
